Blue Mountains

We spent Monday in the Blue Mountains. It took about 4 hours to get from Trish's house to Katoomba. Once there we had tickets (with our SmartVisit card) for an explorer bus to get on and off at various places. We took two separate hikes during the day. The first one was from Katoomba Cascades to Scenic World. Then we did another one through part of the Blue Mountains to see Three Sisters. It was beautiful hikes through the rainforest. Again it reminded me a lot of home and it was enjoyable but very cold. At Scenic World we had tickets to ride the Scenic Railway and Scenic Cablecar. The railway is the steepest railway in the world. I was just grateful that it was slow because it was very, very steep. You start almost laying down but once you start going downhill you are sitting upright. After the railway is a hike around the area with lots of information about the forest. It also goes through the area that used to be a coal mine. Then you ride the cable car back to the top. The cable car is the longest in Australia and gives you a fantastic view of the Blue Mountains.

A tree fern.
The beautiful Blue Mountians.
A sandstone cliff in the rainforest.
Katoomba Cascades. My favorite spot in the Blue Mountains.
